How did you meet? We met online actually but then found out we lived less than half a mile from each other and participated in some of the same activities. I was bored one Sunday night and was looking at the dating app. I saw him online and messaged him. We talked for about a week before meeting up at a local dive bar to play darts. Best thing that ever came from being bored!

Tell us about the proposal. He asked if we could have a “date night” on a Friday because I had been working a lot. I initially didn’t want to because I was supposed to go shooting that day but ended up agreeing. He took me out to dinner and the bar where we first met. After one game of darts, he asked me to go get him a beer from the bar and while I was doing that he put the ring on the dart board that we played on during our first date. When I came back, he grabbed the ring off the board, got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him.

What inspired the design or theme of your wedding day? We are both are pretty laid-back and like a natural look. I always loved the aged live oaks that surround the grounds at Magnolia Pancake Haus and knew the new Halle was the perfect place to hold our wedding. You can truly just enjoy yourself, which is what we wanted.

Why did you choose the venue and vendors you did? Well, the venue choice was easy! From the moment we opened our second location of Magnolia Pancake Haus, I knew the area behind it was the perfect place for a ceremony given the tress and landscaping. We didn’t really have a rhyme or reason for choosing our vendors. We just used local resources to find who we used. Once we met with them and saw their work we knew they were perfect for us. We couldn’t have been happier with our photographer Anthony and our cake artist Meemo’s Bakery.

What were some of the most unique elements of your wedding? We had our two dogs be our ring bearers for the ceremony because they are a huge part of our life. We also had a longtime friend of my family who is a pastor and has seen me grow up since I was 12 perform our ceremony. For our centerpieces, we put different flowers in bottles from beer we'd drunk during the four months leading up to the wedding.

Did anything about your wedding exceed your expectations? The overall day was so great! We had amazing friends there to celebrate with and our pictures captured all the great moments we had.

What are your favorite memories from the day? Dylan surprised me the whole day. He gave my best friend all these things to give me throughout the day. When I woke up, he had her give me a card and a basket full of my favorite goodies. Then he had her give me another card at 11:00, he surprised me with another card and a foot massage at 1:00, and then 15 minutes before our ceremony he had her give me his last card. I was not expecting any of it, so it made the day that much more special! It was also great to have all of our families and friends who we hadn’t seen in a while and to get to share the whole weekend with them.

What advice do you have for couples planning a San Antonio wedding? Utilize local resources to help plan your wedding and trust your instinct when it comes to booking your vendors. Don’t be hesitant to spend money where it counts like on your photographer as those will be your memories! And most importantly, make sure you enjoy every minute of it because the planning and then your wedding day go by so quickly!
